New revolutionary material for radius dishes...Waterproof EXTIRA MDF. This is a new material that we found to be excellent for radius dishes. This material is virtually waterproof, termite proof, and bacteria proof. This is a huge improvement in material, since radius dishes tend to want to curl and warp with any humidity. We have developed the new STAY-FLAT method for producing our dishes that virtually eliminates the possibility of warping. 1. We only use the highest quality materials to build our dishes. There is no one out there selling waterproof EXTIRA MDF radius dishes, so you can only get these dishes through Luthier Suppliers. We no longer apply Shellac to these dishes because it no longer needed since these are waterproof. So why take your chances with plain MDF when you can have the best material and the most stable dish available for the best price.

Radius Dishes are used to shape the top and back braces to the radius of your top or back and are also used to glue the top and back on to the sides of a guitar. One of the most useful applications of a radius dish is to create the radius of the top and back on to the sides so that the top and back will fit perfectly with the radius of the top and back, and therefore creating a less stressful joint.

The radius dishes with sandpaper are also used for glueing the top and back braces on to the top or back using a go-bar deck. With the addition of sandpaper, you are able to sand the bottom of your braces to the exact radius of the top or back. You can also sand the sides of the guitar with the lined kerfing installed to get the exact radius of the top or back. This produces a much less stressful joint as the sides will accept the top or back much more easily because it will have the same radius as the top or back.

For radiusing the braces, just place the brace on top of the dish, then use a pencil to roll it on the bottom of the dish while at the same time drawing a line across the bottom of your brace. You then use a hand plane to plane down to the line, then use the dish to finish it off. They should fit in the bottom of the dish with slight downward hand pressure.

These dishes can be used to radius the sides to the exact radius of the top or back. Make sure you use the correct radius for the top of the sides to match the radius of the top, and the correct radius when sanding the back/bottom of the sides for the back.

These dishes can also be used for glueing the top or back in a go-bar deck. You just need to place 3 sheets of newspaper down on top of them to protect the top or back from getting scratches.
