Thanks to Robert we now have on this DVD a clear and thorough method for building a steel string guitar from an LMI kit. Robbie has a great "bedside manner" as he carefully explains his method for assembling the guitar. There are lots of photos that are well explained as we walk through his guitar building process. If you have wondered how a guitar goes together, want to take on building a guitar, or want to solve some of your basic construction problems, you will enjoy this DVD.

Well, it has been many years but I remember when those two guys arrived at my door. One was a tall friendly looking guy and the other short and serious. Fresh off the plane from Brazil , they were at my shop to take an intensive 3 day advanced guitar building class.

What was I getting myself into?

So that I can see where they are on the “learning curve”, I always ask the students to bring a sample of their work.

Well, after looking at these two guitars, I knew we were going to have a great weekend.

We did!

The short serious guy was Antonio Tessarin, who at that time had already built over 200 classical guitars, had recently been featured in Just Jazz magazine, and was (is) quite well know in Brazil. The other guy was Antonio's good friend and guitar building student who over the weekend served as our translator.

This was Robert.

Robert is one of those guys that you will not soon forget. He is intelligent, funny, and basically a walking talking guitar information sponge.

He is a voracious student (He studied for years with Antonio, has taken every class that I have offered, and continues to seek out innovative lutherie information), a dedicated guitar builder, and a wonderful instructor.

Now, we are lucky enough to have Robert take the time to put his method into a DVD set.

Robert's techniques have strong roots in the Spanish tradition, but he is not slow to use power tools and modern techniques in order to build a better guitar. In this DVD set, he has mixed all that he has learned over the years and distilled it down to a clear and easy to understand classical guitar building method.

If you want to learn a classical guitar construction based on the traditional Spanish guitar method, pick up some good building techniques, or just spend a pleasant afternoon seeing how a guitar is built, you will really enjoy his DVD set.
